Michael W. Frerichs (/ ˈ f r ɛ r ɪ k s /; born July 28, 1973) is an American politician serving his third term as the State Treasurer of Illinois, after taking office on January 12, 2015. Before being elected treasurer, he was a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate , representing the 52nd District from 2007 until 2015.
The Treasurer is elected for a renewable four-year term during the quadrennial mid-term election. The Illinois Constitution provides that the Treasurer must, at the time of their election, be a United States citizen, at least 25 years old, and a resident of the state for at least three years preceding the election.
Jerome "Jerry" Cosentino (June 13, 1931 – April 3, 1997) was an American politician from the state of Illinois. He was a Democrat who served as state Treasurer from 1979 until 1983, and again from 1987 until 1991. [1] [2]

Rowe served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1961 to 1967, [2] being one of three representatives from Illinois' 49th district. [1] Rowe was the Republican candidate for Illinois state treasurer in 1966, narrowly losing to Adlai Stevenson III by 39,655 votes out of 3.7 million votes cast.
