Dalziel and Pascoe is a British television crime drama based on the mystery novels of the same name, written by Reginald Hill. The series was first broadcast on 16 March 1996, with Warren Clarke being cast as Dalziel (pronounced "dee-ell", / d iː ˈ ɛ l / ⓘ ) and Colin Buchanan being cast as Pascoe.
As Dalziel and Pascoe track down the manager of the home, a local church priest – Father Leonard Tibbings – they discover a systematic chain of abuse by Tibbings and the church, which involved splitting up siblings, including identical twins, and making youngsters work for no pay on farmland belonging to the church.
The BBC created a more successful series of adaptations, beginning in March 1996, with an adaptation of the first novel, A Clubbable Woman. Produced by BBC Birmingham, the series starred Warren Clarke as Dalziel, Colin Buchanan as Pascoe, David Royle as DS Edgar "Wieldy" Wield and Susannah Corbett as Ellie Pascoe.
