DPS Academy (in Arabic: أكاديمية د ب س) (previously known as Union International Indian School) was a private Indian school in Dubai International Academic City, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which is affiliated to ICSE curriculum, Delhi.
The school was founded on 23 August 1980, and began operations with class I to class V. In 1990, it moved to a new building in Abu Dhabi on land donated by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. A college section was added in 1991. [2] The school was one of four to win a Zayed Future Energy Prize in the Global High School category in 2013.
Abu Dhabi Indian School Branch 1, Al Wathba was established in 2014 to aid the sister school, Abu Dhabi Indian School [4] which was formed in 1975. [5] There was a growing demand for a larger facility with the capacity to handle the large influx of expatriate students in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The first campus was opened in 1992. It is located on the main island of the emirate of Abu Dhabi on Al Karamah Street. The school facilities include a library, a football field, a prayer room, a gymnasium, four laboratories, an art room, and a music room. The campus contains 1,402 students and 95 staff members. [2]
In September 2012, the school had 1800 students from 78 nationalities, and a faculty of 250 staff from 42 nationalities. [6] In March 2015, Dubai International Academy was rated Outstanding overall for the first time by KHDA, one of the 16 schools in Dubai to receive this rating at the time. [7] In 2018, a sister school was opened in Al Barsha. [8]
