Palash Baran Pal (Bengali: পলাশ বরন পাল Palāś Baran Pāl, born : 1955) is an Indian theoretical physicist, an Emeritus Professor in the Physics Department of Science College, Calcutta University, Kolkata, [1] a writer, [2] [3] a linguist [4] and a poet.
Butea monosperma is a small-sized dry-season deciduous tree, growing to 15 m (49 ft) tall.It is slow-growing: young trees have a growth rate of a few feet per year. The leaves are pinnate, with an 8–16 cm (3.1–6.3 in) petiole and three leaflets.

Lal Paharir Deshe Ja (transl. You belong to the land of red hills) is a Bengali folk music based on a poem written by Arun Chakraborty in 1970s. [1]Arun Chakraborty, a folk artist (and engineer by training), [2] wrote the poem after spotting a leafless Palash tree at Srirampur Station, he considered the tree to be misfit and thought that it should belong to the red hills.
