Jeju Island. Jeju Island (Jeju / Korean: 제주도; Hanja: 濟州島; RR: Jejudo; IPA: [tɕeːdʑudo]) is South Korea 's largest island, covering an area of 1,833.2 km 2 (707.8 sq mi), which is 1.83% of the total area of the country. [2] Alongside outlying islands, it is part of Jeju Province and makes up the majority of the province.
Jeju Province is the least populous province in South Korea; at the end of September 2020, the total resident registration population is 672,948, of which 4,000 of the total provincial population reside on outlying islands such as the Chuja Islands and Udo Island. The total area of the province is 1,849 km 2 (714 sq mi).
Hallasan. Hallasan is a massive shield volcano which forms the bulk of Jeju Island and is often taken as representing the island itself. There is a Korean traditional local saying that "Jeju Island is Hallasan, and Hallasan is Jeju."
