Apparently, this is the reading of an area on the motherboard, not the CPU. Would anyone know what I should use to get the reading and be able to use it as a variable? That will be a great additional tool for Windows 10. I suggest sending a feedback through the hub so the developers can take a look and possibly consider adding that on future updates. Press Windows key + F to launch the feedback hub from your computer. For the meantime, you may use a third party utility to monitor your computer's temperature.

In order to really know what your CPU temperature is, your motherboard has to have that capability built in. Otherwise you can get an estimate by installing third-party software. The PC was running fine without any issues for 4 months (Both Windows 10 and 11) After the Windows update on 30-01-2022 the Windows 11 PC started showing a CPU temp of 71 and eventually went up to 84C in idle state. Simply switching the OS to Win 10 brought down the idle temp to 44C. Definitely its a Windows 11 thing.
Replied on July 8, 2016. Report abuse. There are no built-in apps in Windows 10 that will do what you want to do. You might want to look at Open Hardware Monitor, a small free program that reports just about everything regarding temperatures and fans.

I have been using an Asus "automatic" Overclocking suite and it manages to get the CPU up to 4.6 Ghz at which time I get the BSOD, reboot automatically & get an OC speed of max 4.5 on 2 cores, and 4.4 on 4 cores. I use a single fan water cooler but lately the temps have been getting very high.
