In 1987 the School's name changed again to Southbank International School. In January 1989 the School moved to the present Kensington campus, and with a growing demand for places the Hampstead campus opened in September 1996. In June 1996 MYP authorisation was achieved and this was followed in June 2000 by PYP authorisation.

The coeducational school's 100-acre (40 ha) campus was designed by Aaron Green, protégé of renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. [2] The school closed in June 2019 but later announced plans to reopen for the 2021–2022 school year. [3] A reopening as AHA International School never occurred.
The school educates 1,257 students in grades K-8. In the 2022–23 school year, 804 students were enrolled in the elementary program (K-5) and 453 in the middle school (6–8). [1] [2] In 2011, the school moved to the former E.E. Waddell High School and changed its name to E.E. Waddell Language Academy.
One of the school's buildings, 69 Fitzjohns Avenue, was previously the premises of the Queen's House School, an independent day school for girls aged between 9 and 18 established in 1947. [3] The house at 4 Arkwright Road was the former residence of Francis William Topham (1808–1877), a painter and one of Charles Dickens ' illustrators.
The school opened in September 2004 and was the fifth school opened in the United States by the British Schools of America. In 2013, BISC joined Nord Anglia Education, an international education provider with 66 international schools and over 50,000 students.
