[1] [2] The name derives from the summit of the Biblical Mount Nebo, from which Moses first saw the Promised Land (Deuteronomy 34:1–4). The focal point of the community is Mount Pisgah Harnett Original Free Will Baptist Church. It was established in 1860 in a local white Baptist Church in Coats, North Carolina.
