Champhai is the third largest town in Mizoram, [1] northeast India and is one of the oldest settlements founded by the Mizo people, that initially served as a capital for the Hmar dynasty. [2] Located near the India–Myanmar border facilitates cross-border trade , it serves as a hub for trade and commerce in the region.
Champhai district is one of the eleven districts of Mizoram state in India. The district is bounded on the north by Churachandpur district of Manipur state, on the west by Saitual and Serchhip districts, and on the south and east by Myanmar. The district occupies an area of 3,185.83 km 2 (1,230.06 sq mi).
Marathi used to have a /t͡sʰ/ but it merged with /s/. [4] Some speakers pronounce /d͡z, d͡zʱ/ as fricatives but the aspiration is maintained in /zʱ/. [4] A defining feature of the Marathi language is the split of Indo-Aryan ल /la/ into a retroflex lateral flap ळ (ḷa) and alveolar ल (la). It shares this feature with Punjabi.

Likewise, Varhadi replaces the case endings lā (ला) and nā (ना) of standard Marathi with le (ले), a feature it shares with neighboring Khandeshi language .
The village was established by Pu Mitinlianan in 1876 who started ruling the village for 45 years till his death in 1921. It was then ruled by Pu Chawnghleithanga in 1922 (1 year), who then passed it on to his son Pu Tlangtinchhuma who ruled till 1937 (14 years).
