The Lincoln cent (sometimes called the Lincoln penny) is a one-cent coin that has been struck by the United States Mint since 1909. The obverse or heads side was designed by Victor David Brenner, as was the original reverse, depicting two stalks of wheat (thus "wheat pennies", struck 1909–1958).

The Lincoln Cent was designed by Victor David Brenner and was struck to commemorate the 100 th Anniversary of the Birth of Abraham Lincoln. Brenner’s Lincoln cent replaced the Indian Head Cent series that was struck from 1859 through 1909.
The most recent version of the penny is the Lincoln cent. The Lincoln penny was made of 95% copper, 5% zinc from 1959 until 1985. Since 1985 it has been minted with 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper.
