Yankee was an American discount department store chain begun in Flint, Michigan. Partners Joseph Megdell and Wilbert Roberts opened their first store in 1948 to sell military surplus under the name U.S. Surplus. By 1964, it had become a discount chain with 21 stores throughout southeastern Michigan, primarily around Flint.

Yankee Springs State Recreation Area is a state-managed protected area located in Yankee Springs Township in Barry County, Michigan. The park is 5,200 acres (21 km 2 ) in area. It has 120 rustic, 200 modern and 25 equestrian camping sites, plus two cabins.
The Chief Noonday Outdoor Center is located in the Yankee Springs Recreation Area.The camp contains four villages arranged around a central fire pit, in addition to a central administration area containing a dining hall and kitchen complex and miscellaneous camp service facilities.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.9 square miles (92.9 km 2), of which 31.0 square miles (80.4 km 2) is land and 4.8 square miles (12.4 km 2), or 13.37%, is water, [4] consisting of several lakes in the western half of the township, the largest of which is Gun Lake.

Hastings (/ ˈ h eɪ s t ɪ ŋ s / HAY-stings) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Barry County, as well as the county's only city. [5] The population was 7,514 at the 2020 census. The city borders Hastings Charter Township on the north, east, and south, and Rutland Charter Township on the west.
