Rahal was the interim President and CEO of CART for six months during the 2000 season. His business interests include Bobby Rahal Automotive Group, a network of car dealerships in western and central Pennsylvania selling Acura, BMW, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Volvo.
The Rahal-Hogan R/H-001, originally known as the Truesports 91C and developed into the Truesports 92C, was a CART racing car used in the early 1990s. It was developed and raced by Truesports between 1991 and 1992 and sold to Rahal-Hogan Racing in 1993, notably failing to qualify for the 1993 Indianapolis 500 with defending series champion Bobby Rahal.
Bobby Rahal was the national champion, and the rookie of the year was Chip Robinson. The 1986 Indianapolis 500 was sanctioned by USAC , but counted towards the CART points championship. Bobby Rahal won the Indy 500, and would later become the first driver since 1980 to win Indy and the CART championship in the same season.
