Mount Saint Joseph High School (commonly MSJ or Mount Saint Joe) is a Catholic college preparatory school and secondary school / high school for young men from ninth to twelfth grade sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers and founded in 1876. Mount Saint Joseph Academy was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1891 as a K–12 boarding school for girls. In the 1970s MSJA began admitting boys, becoming a coeducational institution. In 1987, the high school portion of MSJA was closed due to declining enrollment.
The school occupied Mount Saint Joseph Academy's former campus, and both institutions were named in honor of Saint Joseph. Saint Joseph Prep was accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. [2] In 2022, the school was ranked as the best Catholic high school in Massachusetts by Niche.com.
