Sunnyside High School, opened in 1955, is home to two thousand students located on the south side of Tucson, Arizona. Sunnyside offers a variety of extracurricular programs, advanced placement courses, and specialized career and technical training programs. It is a part of the Sunnyside Unified School District.
Once campaigning for the new Sunnyside trustee seat began, many candidates stressed the need for building a new high school in the Sunnyside area to deal with rapid growth. Planning for Sunnyside Christian High School began in 1942, leading to the school's first class in 1947. [2] The school expanded its middle school education in 1970 and began offering high school education in 1984. [2] Enrollment continued to grow, and the school now provides instruction from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.
