Oswego (/ ɒ s ˈ w iː ɡ oʊ /) is a village in Kendall and Will counties, Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 census , the population was 34,485. [ 3 ] Oswego is the largest municipality in Kendall County.
Oswego Township occupies the 6-mile-square-plus additional land to the south of the Fox River in northeast corner of Kendall County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 50,870 and it contained 17,914 housing units.
Knox would later become a county in Indiana and is unrelated to the current Knox County in Illinois, while St. Clair would become the oldest county in Illinois. 15 counties had been created by the time Illinois achieved statehood in 1818. The last county, Ford County, was created in 1859.

The village includes land in Will County's Plainfield and Wheatland townships, as well as Na-Au-Say and Oswego townships in Kendall County. With the growth in the Chicago suburbs in the 1990s and 2000s, the village has seen a population increase, from 4,500 in 1990 to 28,000 in 2000 to nearly 45,000 in 2016.
Oswego East High School is a part of the Southwest Prairie Conference and the Illinois High School Association. OEHS has a rivalry with Oswego High School. The matchup between the two schools is known as the "Crosstown Classic". [3] Notable athletes include Noah Schultz, professional baseball player for the Chicago White Sox.
