Computer fan. A computer fan is any fan inside, or attached to, a computer case used for active cooling. Fans are used to draw cooler air into the case from the outside, expel warm air from inside and move air across a heat sink to cool a particular component. Both axial and sometimes centrifugal (blower/squirrel-cage) fans are used in computers.
Computer cooling. A finned air cooled heatsink with fan clipped onto a CPU, with a smaller passive heatsink without fan in the background. A 3-fan heatsink mounted on a video card to maximize cooling efficiency of the GPU and surrounding components. Commodore 128DCR computer's switch-mode power supply, with a user-installed 60 mm cooling fan.
A fan controller with LEDs indicating fan status and potentiometers and switches to control fan speeds. Another method, popular with PC hardware enthusiasts, is the manual fan speed controller. They can be mounted in an expansion slot or a 5.25" or 3.5" drive bay or come built into a computer's case. Using switches or knobs, attached fans can ...
Brushless DC electric motor. The motor from a 3.5 in floppy disk drive. The coils, arranged radially, are made from copper wire coated with blue insulation. The rotor (upper right) has been removed and turned upside-down. The gray ring inside its cup is a permanent magnet. This particular motor is an outrunner, with the stator inside the rotor.
Perry Rhodan is a German space opera franchise, named after its hero. It commenced in 1961 and has been ongoing for decades, written by an ever-changing team of authors. Having sold approximately two billion copies (in novella format) worldwide (including over one billion in Germany alone), it is the most successful science fiction book series ...
On Wednesday, an annular solar eclipse created a "ring of fire" effect across parts of South America, according to NASA. Annular solar eclipses, which occur every one to two years, happen when the ...
The DC motor was the mainstay of electric traction drives on both electric and diesel-electric locomotives, street-cars/trams and diesel electric drilling rigs for many years. The introduction of DC motors and an electrical grid system to run machinery starting in the 1870s started a new second Industrial Revolution.
Rinse with water. Then deodorize, by pouring some baking soda down the disposal and letting it sit for 10-15 minutes. Follow with a lemon peel or an Affresh tablet. Complete the deep clean by ...
