In 2003 AFC fielded a team known as Connecticut Academica F.C. in the inaugural season of the American Indoor Soccer League, and also playing in the 2004–2005 winter Premier Arena Soccer League season.
Academica reached the final in its first season, losing to San Francisco City FC. The team would reach the final again in 2016 and again in 2017, finally winning the championship. On November 14, 2017, it was announced that Academica Soccer Club would join the National Premier Soccer League beginning in the 2018 season. [3]

The USL W League (USLW) is a women's soccer league in the United States. It began play in May 2022 and follows the USL W-League , a similar league that existed from 1995 to 2015. [ 1 ] It is currently not sanctioned by the US Soccer Federation , meaning it doesn't have a position in the US soccer pyramid .
The club is the pinnacle for a 70-plus youth team organization and is Connecticut's only professional organized soccer franchise. [1] In its first season of play, CFC Azul finished mid-table tied for 4th place with fellow expansion team Worcester Hydra. In 2013, CFC finished in 6th place with a record of 2 wins, 6 losses and 6 draws. [2]
Tracy also played for Beachside Soccer Club in his youth. [3] His brother Ryan Tracy played soccer at the University of Pennsylvania. [4] He won the 2008 Hermann Trophy [5] for the nation's most outstanding college player while at Wake Forest University where he scored 13 goals and 10 assists in 24 games.
During her sophomore year, Pino was named 2022–23 Gatorade Connecticut Girls Soccer Player of the Year after leading her team to their second straight Class L state championship. Pino scored 32 goals and passed for 17 assists, setting up a pair of goals in St. Joseph's 3–0 win over Notre Dame-Fairfield in the state final.
