fast food has to be worse. The breakfast, lunch, dinner rushes, dealing with food and extreme temperatures. Hungry people tend to be much more impatient, impulsive, and harder to deal with. You can find some jobs in retail that are more difficult or more physically strenuous , but in general ive never had a retail job we're is constant insanity ...
In retail, a lot of work is more individual and less dependent on doing everything quickly. Sure, you shouldn't slack off, and you need to be fast at the registers still, but in fast food, you're constantly under pressure, whereas retail is less intense. Also, you're less likely to come home stinking of fryer fat.
Any general ideas, tips, or recommendations are welcome! Retail is 28387383838x better. I’ve worked for long periods of time in both, and man avoiding all of the mess, smell and customers asking to get food remade is a blessing. Retail isn’t that great but it’s a lot better than food.
The /r/FastFood subreddit is for news, reviews, and discussions of fast food (aka quick-service), fast casual, and casual restaurants -- covering everything fast food from multinational chains, regional and local chains, independent and chain cafeterias and all-you-can-eat restaurants, independent and chain diners, independent hole-in-the-wall restaurants, convenience store and gas station ...

As a new grad your resume isn't going to be too long, as you get more experience in your industry you can drop the fast food/retail jobs off. Your experience of customer service and cashiering looks better than someone with no experience at all. Put more recent experience at top. doesn't look good. doesn't look bad.
Technically your place would probably get categorized as fast food, but most large grocery stores sell donuts in their bakery so you do fit right into our corner of hell. Yes. The amount of time I have has someone claim an order that wasn't their own "by accident" is astounding to me.
I wouldn't take it too personally. Despite how it would look it's actually rather hard to get fast food / retail jobs sometimes. They get slammed with thousands of resumes and it's often more luck of the draw than anything. As for them telling you that you don't have enough experience, I wouldn't put any stock into that.
If you work fast food from 16-18 and then have two years food service experience and a good review from your fast food manager you will most likely be able to get a job waiting tables or expediting at a nicer restaurant. This is when you can cash out. When I was 19, I was bussing at a place where the average plate was 40-50$ and most tables ...
Yes. OMG. Former Wendy's here and always said serving hungry people is worst! Fast food is retail with extra steps, so definitely still retail. that's a tough one. i think you should be allowed to post here, but at the same time i wouldn't walk around IRL referring to fast food as retail.
