"Run Runaway" is a song by British rock band Slade, released in 1984 as the third single from the band's 11th studio album, The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome, and as the lead single from the album's US counterpart, Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply. The song was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea and produced by John Punter.
The remaining eight tracks were previously recorded songs from the band's catalogue, including the new single "Do You Believe in Miracles". The album was a success in the UK, where it reached No. 34 and was certified Gold. The later 1999 release Slade's Crazee Christmas would chart several times on the UK Budget Albums Chart between 2001-05. [2]
"Run Runaway" was released first in America in March 1984. [3] The song's music video received heavy rotation on MTV, and "Run Runaway" went on to reach No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Rock Tracks chart. The idea for "Gudbuy T'Jane" came to Lea while the band were on an American tour. He first had the idea for the song while sitting by a pool in San Francisco, and then completed the song in the toilet on the plane flight home. Holder, who finished the lyrics, originally changed "Gudbuy T'Jane" to "Hello T'Jane".
The band are seen performing the song on the lorry, which arrives at Surrey Docks for a concert, where schoolchildren are seen waving Slade scarves, the lorry driver joins the band on stage, takes their crash helmet off and reveals themselves to be a beautiful woman.
