Naturalist, Director of the National Park Service Gary E. Everhardt (July 8, 1934 – December 27, 2020), [ 2 ] was the ninth Director of the US National Park Service (NPS). He began his NPS career as an engineer in 1957 and rose to the superintendency of Grand Teton National Park in 1972.
Vela is the former superintendent of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. [1] He has also worked as the National Park Service's director for workforce and inclusion; director of the National Park Service Southeast region; and superintendent of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Site and Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.
Charles F. Sams III (Cayuse and Walla Walla) is an American conservationist who served as the 19th director of the National Park Service from 2021 to 2025. A member of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, Sams is the first Native American to serve as head of the NPS. [1]
