Examination is conducted twice a year. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective Academies after an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Officer jobs are available in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force after passing the Combined Defence Services Exam (CDS). Any student can take this exam after graduation.
The National Testing Agency was widely criticised for the improper conduction of the JEE (Main) 2022 examination. Many students faced technical glitches during the examination, which resulted in lower scores. [29] Glitches in answer key and response sheet of the exam were also a serious problem for the students.
In 2023, 44 cadets of SPI cracked the UPSC-NDA exam. [7] In 2024 37 out of 57 cadets of SPI 47th Course cracked UPSC NDA exam further studying for SSB interview currently. From 2023, a separate SPI for girls is established at Nashik by the Maharashtra Government. [8] 3 girls out of 27 from the 1st course of GSPI cleared the UPSC-NDA written exam.
[5] JEE-Main, unlike JEE-Advanced, has a fixed exam structure and is not subject to change every year. Up until 2018, the JEE-Main Paper-I was three hours long and consisted of thirty questions in each of the three subjects (physics, chemistry and maths). 4 marks are awarded for correct answers and 1 mark is deducted for incorrect answers.
