The 2023–24 season is the 117th season in the history of Rochdale [1] and their first outside the Football League since the 1920–21 season. The club will compete in the National League, [ 2 ] the FA Cup [ 3 ] and the FA Trophy.
The 2022–23 Rochdale A.F.C. season was the 116th edition of the Rochdale Association Football Club and the club's second consecutive season in League Two. In addition to the league, the club also competed in the 2022–23 FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy.

Rochdale were promoted to League One on 26 April 2014, after beating Cheltenham Town 2–0. [4] Playing at the club's highest level the 2014–15 season was the club's most successful yet. Apart from a couple of games, they remained in the top half of the league all season, eventually finishing in eighth place, their highest league placing.
