Different Seasons (1982) is a collection of four Stephen King novellas with a more dramatic bent, rather than the horror fiction for which King is famous. [1] The four novellas are tied together via subtitles that relate to each of the four seasons .
Four Past Midnight is a collection of novellas written by Stephen King in 1988 and 1989 and published in August 1990. [1] It is his second book of this type, the first one being Different Seasons . The Breathing Method is a novella by American writer Stephen King, originally released as part of his Different Seasons collection in 1982. It is placed in the section entitled "A Winter's Tale". [1] It is the only one of the four stories in the collection not to have been adapted for film. [2] [3]
USA Today ' s Brian Truitt awarded the collection three and a quarter stars out of four, saying, "King still owns the fright business like none other, [and] the iconic author will keep you up late at night engrossed in four tales about our dreams and our frailties."
The work, written in a genre unusual for King, is considered one of his best works. The story was adapted to film in 1994 by Frank Darabont . The film, The Shawshank Redemption , was nominated for seven Academy Awards in 1994 , including Best Picture , [ 1 ] and has been regarded as one of the best films of all time .
