This title was kept until the end of 1941 when it was changed to Die Chemie. Until 1920, the journal was published by Springer Verlag and by Verlag Chemie starting in 1921. Due to World War II, the journal did not publish from April 1945 to December 1946. In 1947, publication was resumed under the current title, Angewandte Chemie. [2] [3]

Heinrich Emil Albert Knoevenagel (German pronunciation: [ˈhaɪnʁɪç ˈʔeːmiːl ˈʔalbɛʁt ˈknøːvəˌnaːɡl̩]; 18 June 1865 – 11 August 1921) was the German chemist who established the Knoevenagel condensation reaction.
In his spare time Asinger began to write on the monographs Chemie und Technologie der Paraffine (Chemistry and Technology of paraffins) and Chemie und Technologie der Monoolefine (Chemistry and Technology of monoolefins), which were published later in 1956 and 1957 in the Akademie-Verlag, East Berlin.

Conrad Peter Laar (22 March 1853 – 11 February 1929) was a German chemist. [1] He coined the expression tautomerism in 1885. [2] He also observed the double bond rule in 1885, stating elements with a principal quantum number greater than 2 for their valence electrons (period 3 elements and higher) tend not to form multiple bonds.
