The U.S. Post Office and Courthouse-Aberdeen, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, was built in 1936 with Art Deco features. It is a steel-framed four-story rectangular building, 67 feet (20 m) tall on a 150 feet (46 m) by 64 feet (20 m) base, with a one-story 100 feet (30 m) by 64 feet (20 m) extension (part of the original).
The U.S. Courthouse and Post Office in Aberdeen, Mississippi was built in 1885. Also known as Old Federal Building , it served historically as a courthouse and as a post office. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

[3] [4] A dispute followed, and the county seat moved back to Columbia from November 1889 until 1890, after which Aberdeen permanently became the county seat. [4]

In 1828 Thomas Potter McQueen was granted 10,000 acres, and named the small township after George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen. In 1837 Segenhoe Inn was built, which Potter McQueen named after Segenhoe Manor, in Bedfordshire, where he was born in 1791. [2] Aberdeen Post Office opened on 1 August 1856. [3]
