An axlebox, also known as a journal box in North America, is the mechanical subassembly on each end of the axles under a railway wagon, coach or locomotive; it contains bearings and thus transfers the wagon, coach or locomotive weight to the wheels and rails; the bearing design is typically oil-bathed plain bearings on older rolling stock, or roller bearings on newer rolling stock.

In plate tectonics, slab detachment or slab break-off may occur during continent-continent or arc-continent collisions. When the continental margin of the subducting plate reaches the oceanic trench of the subduction zone , the more buoyant continental crust will in normal circumstances experience only a limited amount of subduction into the ...
The brake does not work by the simple attraction of a ferromagnetic metal to the magnet. See the diagram at right. It shows a metal sheet (C) moving to the right under a magnet. The magnetic field (B, green arrows) of the magnet's north pole N passes down through the sheet. Since the metal is moving, the magnetic flux through the sheet is changing.
The direction of the subduction system changes since the break-off of slab creates the space, which is the major parameter of this model. [4] The evolution diagram showing how the subduction reversal initiated by a break-off slab at subducting plate: Brown colour is the less dense continental crusts; White colour is the oceanic crust; 1. The capacitance of a capacitor is one farad when one coulomb of charge changes the potential between the plates by one volt. [1] [2] Equally, one farad can be described as the capacitance which stores a one-coulomb charge across a potential difference of one volt. [3] The relationship between capacitance, charge, and potential difference is linear.
English: A diagram showing how a disk-type eddy current brake works. Eddy current brakes are used in power tools like circular saws to stop the blade quickly, and in electric meters. The brake consists of a spinning conductive metal disk (D) spinning counterclockwise in this example, whose surface is positioned between the poles of a magnet (N ...
