The event's date would remain on the NHRA national event schedule until 1992. In 1993, the event was renamed the NHRA Mopar Parts Nationals and moved to May to take advantage of the cooler weather in NJ during that time of the year. In 2000, the event was again renamed Matco Tools Spring Supernationals and was moved to the month of June.
Within a few years, the Carlisle Fairgrounds had become a mecca for collector car enthusiasts all over the world. The runaway success of what became known as Fall Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Car Corral led to a similar Spring event in 1977. In short order, they became complete sellouts for vendor and car sale (or "car corral") spaces.
