The Providence Friars men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Providence College. A member of Hockey East, the Friars have been coached by Nate Leaman since 2011. Leaman led the friars to a national championship in 2015.
It is used by all teams except the hockey teams, who have used the "Skating Friar" logo since 1973. [10] The nickname "Friars" dates back to 1929, when a Providence Journal article used the nickname in reference to the baseball team. Previously, the teams were variously known as "The Black and White" or "Dominicans."
