The company was acquired by Star Air Service in late 1934. Pacific Alaska Airways was a subsidiary of Pan American World Airways that flew routes around Alaska. The airline was eventually completely absorbed into Pan Am in 1941. The airline restarted service under its own name in the 1970s but ceased operations in 1986.
Alaska Seaplanes then entered into a joint venture with Sterling Airways to offer service to Southwest Alaska under the name Aleutian Airways. Reeve Aleutian Airways was an airline headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] It ceased operations on December 5, 2000. [ 3 ] Reeve Aleutian was named, possibly as a pun on the word revolution, by combining founder Robert C. Reeve 's surname and the Aleutian Islands , its primary destination.
The airline was founded in 1932 and, during the period of regulation, connected numerous airstrips in Alaska to major cities, and the state of Alaska to Seattle. In 1969, Alaska only served Seattle in the lower 48, though they did offer connecting service to Texas on Braniff International Airlines . [ 2 ]
The airline also operates inside Alaska under the brand and is the same company as Ravn Alaska. Ravn Connect is a separate company but also a subsidiary of FLOAT Alaska. [4] The airline plans to operate transpacific flights between North America and Asia, with a stopover at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
