Roopun is a holder of a master's degree in international business law (LLM) from the University of Central Lancashire. Since 1989 and for over fifteen years, Roopun has been a member of the board of examiner of the Council of Legal Education. He also lectured at the Faculty of Law of the University of Mauritius. He is married to Sayukta Roopun.
