World Athletics (then IAAF) commenced the recognition of world records in 1912, and indoor world records after 1987. In 2000, IAAF rule 260.18a (formerly 260.6a) was amended, so that "world records" (as opposed to "indoor world records") can be set in a facility "with or without roof".
The Argentine Athletics Championships is an annual outdoor competition in the sport of athletics that is organised by the Argentine Athletics Confederation which serves as the national championship for Argentina. It was first held in 1920 as a men only event and women's events were added from 1939 onwards.
It was created on 29 October 2001 as an extension of the Ministry of Culture, as the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports, by President Fernando de la Rúa. [4] The first minister responsible was Hernán Lombardi, but his tenure – as well as the ministry's existence – was cut short by the resignation of De la Rúa and his entire government less than two months later on 20 December 2001.
