The Hit List is a British music game show that puts three pairs of contestants against each other to test their knowledge of music, which began airing on Saturday nights on BBC One on 25 May 2019. The show is hosted by husband and wife Marvin and Rochelle Humes , and it is their first standalone TV show as a couple.
At The Hit List's peak, two compilation CDs were released by YTV and MCA in 1994 [2] and 1996, [3] each featuring pop, R&B, rap, and dance songs aired on the show's countdown. The later Big Fun Party Mix compilation album series, which debuted in 2000 through Universal, [4] can be seen as a spiritual successor to the Hit List CDs.

Hit List was created for season two of Smash, intended to be a rival production to Bombshell, the Marilyn Monroe biographical musical created for season one. Drew Gasparini, Joe Iconis, Andrew McMahon, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and Lucie Silvas created the material for the fictional musical. [1]
