Stretching 148 miles (238 km) across the Florida peninsula, State Road 70 (SR 70) spans five Florida counties and straddles the northern boundaries of two more.Its western terminus is at US 41 (14th Street West) south of Bradenton (Manatee County); its eastern terminus is an intersection of Virginia Avenue and South Fourth Street (U.S. Route 1/SR 5) in Fort Pierce (St. Lucie County).
Continuing east of I-75, SR 64 reduces to four lanes at Lakewood Ranch Road. At Lorraine Road, it becomes a two-lane road as it becomes a more rural route. It passes Lake Manatee State Park and crosses Lake Manatee near Bethany. It then passes to the north of Wingate Creek State Park and through Myakka Head before entering Hardee County. [2]
The resort was built by US Steel in 1972 and opened in 1974. It was a popular upscale resort when it opened, and later in its life it became more of a budget resort. In December of 2002 it abruptly closed and in 2006, it was demolished to make room for the new Citymark of Orlando; this never materialized.
State Road 4 (SR 4) is a 43.705-mile-long (70.336 km) two-lane state highway in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties in the western corner of the Florida Panhandle. It is signed east–west, but the road is slightly diagonal.
