It is the seat of the municipality of Kassandra, in the center of the peninsula. Its population was 3,158 at the 2021 census. [ 1 ] It was named after the ancient city Cassandreia , which was located near the village.

Paliouri (Greek: Παλιούρι, pronounced) is a village and a community in the peninsula of Kassandra, Chalkidiki, Greece. It is situated between low mountains near the southeasternmost tip of the peninsula, Cape Paliouri. The community includes the small villages Agios Nikolaos and Xyna.

The territory of the colony had included within its boundaries the peninsula of Pallini and the district stretched north of the canal to the foot of the mountain Cholomontas. [4] The colony enjoyed ius Italicum, and is mentioned in Pliny the Elder's encyclopaedia [5] and in inscriptions. It was destroyed by the Huns and Slavs around 540 AD. [1]
The airport is directly connected with the city's major road arteries in the southeast, the EO16 and the A25 motorway, which connects Thessaloniki with Chalkidiki, via the ΕΟ67. The Thessaloniki Inner Ring Road provides access to the A1 and the A2 motorways. A total of 2,285 parking spaces for cars exist at the front of the terminal building.
