Today in New York (displayed on-air as "Today in NY") is a local morning news and entertainment television program airing on WNBC, an NBC owned-and-operated television station in New York City. The program is broadcast each weekday morning from 4:30 to 7 a.m. Eastern Time , immediately preceding NBC's Today .
As local stations expanded their morning newscasts, World News This Morning was first shortened into two separate 30-minute newscasts and later to the current, single, 30-minute newscast (which, if an affiliate does not provide a morning news program of its own, can be repeated back-to-back between 4:00 and 7:00 a.m. ET).
Rachel Yonkunas, who worked for the local news network since 2022, was stunned in September after her superiors demanded she take a $10,000 pay cut to join the station’s morning broadcast.
The CBS Morning News title was originally used as the name of a conventional morning news program that served as a predecessor to the network's current CBS Mornings. For most of the 1960s and 1970s, the program aired as a 60-minute hard news broadcast at 7:00 a.m., preceding Captain Kangaroo and airing opposite the first hour of NBC's Today.
