The main purpose of this page is to list the current standard time offsets of different countries, territories and regions. Information on daylight saving time or historical changes in offsets can be found in the individual offset articles (e.g. UTC+01:00) or the country-specific time articles (e.g. Time in Russia).
The minutes parameter (optional, default 0) is null for most timezones, but 30 minutes occur in some places, sometimes because of daylight. Use negative values for western timezones that need it. Non integer are accepted for both parameters, but this will be typically used only for hours offsets from UTC. Examples: {{Utc}} = "21:00". {{Utc|-4 ...
A negative UTC offset describes a time zone west of the prime meridian where the civil time is behind UTC. So the zone designation for New York (on standard time) would be "−05:00","−0500", or "−05". Conversely, a positive UTC offset describes a time zone east of the prime meridian where the civil time is ahead of UTC.
If no time zone is given or if the given time zone is not supported, then the output will default to 0; In this case, instead of giving a time zone, an offset (e.g. -30, 45, etc.) can also be given; This exact offset will then be used as the output (this functionality is merely included for template compatibility).

The time is calculated based on the offset from UTC for the specified time zone taking into account whether daylight saving time is currently active in that time zone. Note: Most Wikipedia pages display a cached version of the page to reduce server load, so the template will only display the current time as of when the page was last parsed .
This template gives the current hour offset from UTC time for the given time zone. If the dst parameter is not used, it uses {{ Daylight saving in time zone }} to automatically adjust the offset according to daylight saving time (DST), if applicable.
