Edina (locally / iː ˈ d aɪ n ə / ⓘ ee-DY-nə, / ɪ ˈ d aɪ n ə / ih-DY-nə) [8] is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States and a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis. The population was 53,494 at the 2020 census , [ 3 ] making it the 18th most populous city in Minnesota .
Announced in 1972, [2] Ridgedale Center was constructed on 81.3 acres of land owned by the Dayton-Hudson Corporation dating back to 1964. [3] Opening in 1974, after two preliminary name changes from "Oakdale" to "Twelve Oaks" to, finally, Ridgedale, it became the Twin Cities' fourth 'Dale' shopping center, following Southdale, Brookdale, and Rosedale.
