He ran the Mudokwan Dojo in Indianapolis for 25 years, He was graded 8th Dan Kyoshi by Kichiro Shimabukuro. From 1977 to 1997 he hosted an Indianapolis Isshin-ryu tournament and in 1983, he hosted the Isshin-Ryu World Karate Association Tournament. Mr. Lennox also wrote two books, "Isshin-Ryu Karate" and "Weapons of Isshin-Ryu".
Harold Gene Long (3 September 1930 – 12 October 1998) was an American martial artist and an Isshinryu karate pioneer. He founded the Isshinryu Hall of Fame and was the second person inducted, with founding Grandmaster, Tatsuo Shimabuku being the first. [1]

After six months out of the Dojo, Donovan got 'the bug' once more, and the nearest Karate club to him was Steve Arneil's Kyokushinkai dojo in Stratford, where a lot of his friends trained. Donovan found the atmosphere electric, changed to Kyokushinkai and trained in the style for nearly four years, taking his second Dan with Mas Oyama.

Isshin-ryū kusarigamajutsu is a school of handling the chain and sickle weapon. The 24th unofficial headmaster of Shinto Musō Ryu, Shiraishi Hanjirō, received a full license (Menkyo) in Isshin-ryū from Morikata Heisaku in the late 19th century,. [1] Shiraishi would later transmit the Isshin-ryū to his own Jōdō students.
