NORCECA was formally created by the FIVB and its President, Mr. Paul Liband in 1968, when Canada and the United States of America joined the confederation. Its first Senior Championship was held in Mexico from August 4–9, 1969 and the inaugural game featured Haiti vs. Panama , with Haiti winning 3-0.
The NORCECA Men's Volleyball Championship is the official competition for senior men's national volleyball teams of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation . Since its introduction in 1969 the tournaments have occurred every two years.
The championship combines events for men and women, and is held annually, organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA). The confederation keeps an extensive and detailed database of tournaments and events, reported at two sites, the Beach Volleyball Database and its colorful main site, norceca.net.

The 2021 Women's NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the 27th edition of the tournament, and was played from 26 August to 31 August 2021 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The champion and first runner-ups will qualify for the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship .
The 2021 Men's NORCECA Volleyball Championship was the 27th edition of the tournament, and was held in Durango City, Mexico from 18 to 23 August 2021. The first and second places qualified to the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship .
