The Boot and Shoe Workers' Union (BSWU) was a trade union of workers in the footwear manufacturing industry in the United States and Canada. It was established in 1895 by the merger of three older unions. It was affiliated with the American Federation of Labor.
The union was founded in 1937, when the United Shoe and Leather Workers' Union merged with the Shoe Workers' Protective Union. [1] It affiliated with the Congress of Industrial Organizations, and by 1953, it had around 60,000 members. [2] In 1955, it transferred to the newly merged AFL–CIO. [3]
