The region of Valdres consists of the six municipalities of Nord-Aurdal, Sør-Aurdal, Øystre Slidre, Vestre Slidre, Vang and Etnedal. Valdres has about 18,000 inhabitants and is known for its excellent trout fishing and the local dialect. Its main road is E16 and Fylkesveg 51. Bruflat is the administrative centre of Etnedal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway.The village is located along the river Etna, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the northeast of the village of Bagn and about 26 kilometres (16 mi) to the northwest of the village of Dokka.
