Grierson is a spinster living alone in Faulkner's fictional Jefferson, Mississippi with an overbearing father. The townspeople feel sympathy for her after her father's death and try to help her cope with life alone.
I will be adding to this section, introducing the critical response of the type of language that Faulkner uses in "A Rose For Emily".
