State Route 146 (SR 146) is a relatively short north–south highway in Middle Tennessee.The road begins northwest of Centertown and ends in Smithville.The current length is 17.2 mi (27.7 km), [1] shortened by approximately 0.19 mi (0.31 km) from the original length when U.S. 70S was routed northward along a new four-lane alignment.

It proceeds north as New Home Road and intersects with U.S. Route 70 (US 70) and SR 26 on the west side of Smithville. After the intersection, SR 83 becomes Allen Ferry Road and goes east-northeastward to its northern terminus at SR 56 in northern Smithville.

During this time SR 26/US 70 runs two concurrencies with SR 53 (from Liberty to Alexandria) and SR 96 (from Liberty to just west of Smithville) with the routes briefly overlapping in Liberty so that all four routes run together. After leaving Dowelltown, the highways go up a hill and end the concurrency with SR 96 at the top.
