David Enoch Beem House, also known as the "Beem Mansion," is a historic home located in Spencer, Owen County, Indiana.Built in 1874, the large, two-story, Italianate-style residence is named after its original owner, David Enoch Beem, a local lawyer and banker, and his family.
The county was created in 1830 in Indiana out of the Indiana Territory following the creation of the State of Ohio. Colonel John Jackson was sent into the area to eradicate the Potawatomi Indians living in a village on the Elkhart River near present-day Baintertown. U.S. Government forces destroyed the abandoned village twice in the decade.
Most of the original fabric of the house remains intact and historic windows, front porch fittings, and interior elements were found in storage on the property and returned to the house during restoration.
