The South Summit Street District is a nationally recognized historic district located in Iowa City, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. [ 1 ] At the time of its nomination it consisted of 50 contributing buildings , most of which were built between 1860 and 1910. [ 2 ]
Wavell State High School occupies an 8.72-hectare (21.5-acre) site in Wavell Heights, 7.8 kilometres (4.8 mi) north of the Brisbane CBD. The large site is on a high ridge, which slopes gently south. The complex of buildings stand at the northern end and highest part of the site, with a large playing field occupying the lower, southern half.

Windsor Heights is surrounded by other cities: Urbandale to the north, Clive to the west, West Des Moines to the south, and Des Moines to the east. Interstate 235 runs through the far southern part of the city, U.S. Route 6 (Hickman Road) forms the boundary with Urbandale, and Iowa Highway 28 (63rd Street) the boundary with Des Moines.
Beginning in 2022, the Brown Street Historic District was the site of a project to increase affordable housing in Iowa City. The city sold a vacant lot at 724 Ronalds Street to a nonprofit who has worked with the Iowa City Community School District to build affordable rental housing and provide students with on-the-job vocational training. It remained the city's central post office until 1975, when a new facility was built. After two years of vacancy, it was bought by the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center; it was selected over other sites due to its central location. Four years of renovations, concluded in September 1981, resulted in its opening as a senior center. [3]
