The Afghanistan cricket team toured Zimbabwe in December 2024 and January 2025 to play the Zimbabwe cricket team. [1] [2] The tour consisted of two Tests, three One Day Internationals (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. [3] [4] In October 2024, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed the fixtures for the tour. [5]
Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afg) took his first five-wicket haul in ODIs and became the youngest player ever to take an ODI five-wicket haul. [13] This was Afghanistan's biggest winning margin against Zimbabwe in ODIs, in terms of wickets (10). [14] [15]
Afghanistan won the third and final ODI by four wickets to win the series 3–0. [9] In the T20I series, Afghanistan won the first match by six wickets, [10] and the second T20I match by 21 runs to win the series with a match to spare. [11] Afghanistan won the final match of the tour by 35 runs to win the T20I series 3–0. [12]
Following the series against Pakistan, Zimbabwe simultaneously hosted associates Ireland and Afghanistan in October. Zimbabwe beat Ireland 2–1 in ODIs. [80] But, Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe 3–2 to win the ODI series. [81] This was the first time an associate nation had beaten a full member in a bilateral series. [82]
Afghanistan won the second Test match by six wickets to draw the series 1–1, [14] with Hashmatullah Shahidi becoming the first batsman for Afghanistan to score a double century in Test cricket. [15] Afghanistan won the first two T20I matches, by 48 and 45 runs, respectively, to win the series with a game to spare. [16]
