An investment promotion agency (IPA) is most often a government agency (or occasionally a non-profit organization functioning similar to a chamber of commerce or business consulting corporation) whose mission is to attract investment to a country, state, region or city.
Due to its strategic importance, it is regarded as the State's engine of growth and development. [6]The Ministry's nomenclature was re-engineered by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration when it was renamed Ministry of Works and Infrastructure with effect from 30 April 2003, due to the dynamic nature of its duties and responsibilities.
In 2005, the PF/DMO, which had previously been a Ministry Department, was also elevated to the rank of Agency, with a Permanent Secretary as its head. The PF/DMO was combined with the Office of Finance in 2015 as part of the current government's reorganization, and it continues to perform its statutory tasks.
The agency is a parastatal established by the "Lagos State government law NO 13 of July and published in the official gazette NO 23 volume 37 of 27th August, 2004", [2] under the supervision of the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure. [3] LASIMRA was established by the then Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. [2]
