The Gibson County Fairgrounds are located along Embree Street across from Lafayette Park and across an intersection from Princeton Community High School in Princeton, Indiana. The fairgrounds are the site of Indiana's oldest continuously running county fair , started in 1852, the same year as the Indiana State Fair.
The fair was first held in 1930 and usually runs for ten days in late June, except that in 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair was moved to July 11–19. The fair maintains a rural theme despite being located in the most populous county in Indiana, with 4-H exhibits, live music, traditional dance shows, and historical displays.
The festivities kick off in full force on Monday with a midway full of food, games, amusement rides (courtesy of Poor Jack Amusements in Milton, Indiana), vendors, and entertainment. The fair runs through Saturday. The Mooreland Free Fair is the largest fair of its kind in Henry County and is a popular event during the summer.
