Drobeta-Turnu Severin (Romanian pronunciation: [droˈbeta ˈturnu seveˈrin] ⓘ), colloquially Severin, is a city in Mehedinți County, Oltenia, Romania, on the northern bank of the Danube, close to the Iron Gates. It is one of six Romanian county seats lying on the Danube river.
Starting with January 2009, Piatra Neamț is the host of a short film festival called "Filmul de Piatra" (derived from the name of the city "Piatra" which means stone (rock) and translated as "Stone-film Festival"). The 1st edition took place in the building of Teatrul Tineretului and other locations between 7th and 11 January 2009.

It is mostly located in the historical province of Oltenia, with one municipality and three communes (Dubova, Eșelnița, and Svinița) located in the Banat. The county seat is Drobeta-Turnu Severin.

The county is host to two of Romania's 9 national parks: the Ceahlău Massif and the Vânători-Neamț Natural Park. The county's main tourist attractions include The city of Piatra Neamț, with its medieval square and ski facilities; The city of Roman. The town is located 48 km (30 mi) east of the county seat, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, on national road DN6 (part of the European route E70). It lies on the border with Gorj County, 25 km (16 mi) west of Filiași and 29 km (18 mi) southeast of Motru. Forests in the vicinity are home to the largest Hermann's tortoise colonies in Oltenia.
