Canal 10, previously known as Televisión de El Salvador (TVES) (in Spanish: El Salvador Television) is El Salvador's public television service with the YSTVE signal. It was founded by the Government of El Salvador on November 4, 1964 with channels 8 and 10.
Later it was founded as a successor to two former public stations called Televisión Educativa de El Salvador (Canal 10) from 1964 to 1968, and would return transmitting with Canal 8 on 29 January 1973; which those two channels lasted until 1989 when Canal 8 went signed off, leaving Canal 10 the only public TV channel at the time. Canal 2 is a Nicaraguan free-to-air television network owned by Televicentro de Nicaragua, S.A., owned by the Mexican media mogul Remigio Ángel González. In theory, the channel's sister channels are those of Grupo Ratensa , but in practice, the channel is an independent operation with support from the Nicaraguan government.
